Microneedling

Microneedling is a professional collagen-stimulating skin treatment designed to improve the appearance of texture, acne scarring, enlarged pores, post-acne marks, fine lines and overall skin quality.

The treatment uses controlled micro-channels in the skin to trigger a natural repair response. This supports skin renewal, collagen production and a smoother, firmer, more refined-looking complexion over time.

Microneedling can be used as a targeted corrective treatment or as part of a longer skin-quality plan.

What it may help with

  • acne scarring
  • enlarged-looking pores
  • uneven texture
  • rough skin
  • post-acne marks
  • pigmentation concerns
  • dullness
  • fine lines
  • early signs of skin ageing
  • loss of firmness
  • overall skin quality

What the treatment involves

Your appointment begins with a consultation and skin assessment to check your skin condition, concerns, sensitivity, medical history and suitability for treatment.

The skin is cleansed and prepared before a professional microneedling device is used to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. Needle depth and treatment intensity are adjusted depending on the area being treated, the concern, skin thickness, sensitivity and your treatment goal.

During treatment, you may feel prickling, pressure or mild discomfort. The sensation varies depending on the treatment area and intensity.

After microneedling, calming and hydrating products are applied to support the skin barrier. Where suitable, advanced skin-supporting serums or regenerative-style add-ons may be used to enhance the treatment plan.

A full aftercare plan will be provided, including what to avoid while the skin is healing.

Treatment approach

Microneedling is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. A lighter approach may be used for general skin quality, glow, hydration support and early texture concerns.

A more corrective approach may be recommended for acne scarring, enlarged-looking pores, deeper texture irregularities, post-acne marks or visible ageing changes.

For collagen stimulation and scar improvement, a course of treatments is usually recommended. One treatment may improve freshness and skin feel, but more visible correction usually develops gradually over several sessions.

The aim is to stimulate skin repair safely, without over-treating or compromising the skin barrier.

Who it is suitable for

Microneedling may be suitable if you are concerned with acne scarring, uneven texture, visible pores, dullness, fine lines, post-acne marks or general loss of skin quality.

It can also be a good option for clients who want a more active treatment than facials or light peels, but who are not ready for injectable treatments.

Microneedling is not suitable for everyone. Active acne, skin infection, poor wound healing, certain medications, pregnancy, some medical conditions or a compromised skin barrier may mean treatment needs to be delayed or avoided.

Results

After treatment, the skin may initially look red and feel warm, tight or sensitive. Once this settles, the skin can appear fresher, smoother and more refined.

Collagen-related results develop gradually. Improvements in texture, scarring, pores and firmness usually take time and are best achieved with a structured course.

Microneedling does not erase scars or pores completely. The realistic goal is improvement in skin texture, smoother surface quality and better overall skin condition.

Downtime

Temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling, tightness, dryness or sensitivity are common after microneedling. This usually improves over the following days.

Some clients may experience mild flaking or a rough skin texture during the healing phase.

After treatment, you will need to avoid makeup, exfoliating acids, retinoids, strong active skincare, heat treatments, intense exercise, swimming and direct sun exposure for the advised period. Daily SPF is essential.
